1-2 feet of snow possible in N. Ind., SW Mich.

Posted: Updated:

The National Weather Service says a storm is threatening to dump as much as 2 feet of snow on parts of northern Indiana and extreme southwestern Michigan.

The weather service on Sunday issued a lake effect snow watch saying a significant single band of heavy lake effect snow is expected to develop Monday evening and continue into Tuesday, producing snowfall amounts as high as 1 to 2 feet with locally higher amounts possible.

The watch covers LaPorte, St. Joseph and Starke counties in Indiana and Berrien County, Mich. The watch area includes the cities of Michigan City, South Bend, and Niles and Benton Harbor, Mich., but the weather service says the location of where a narrow band of heavy snow would fall remained uncertain.
