Dvorak will not seek 4th term as St. Joseph County Prosecutor

Posted:

St. Joseph County Prosecuting Attorney Michael Dvorak says he will not seek a fourth term.

His decision was announced Wednesday in a written statement.

"It has been an honor for me to serve the people of St. Joseph County as their Prosecuting Attorney," said Dvorak. "I want to thank the citizens of our County for placing their trust in me and allowing me the opportunity to serve them as their Prosecutor since 2003."

In the statement, Dvorak says with community support, he has met the goals he outlined for the office.

"Working with the South Bend, Mishawaka, and County police departments, we have re-structured the County Metro Homicide Unit, created the Special Victims Unit, and established a Fatal Alcohol Crash Team. We have helped to establish the not-for-profit Family Justice Center of St. Joseph County. None of this would have been possible without these partners in law enforcement, and especially their leadership, coming together."

Dvorak says he has no definite plans for the future. His statement says he will begin to explore further professional challenges when his term is over at the end of this year.

FOX28 News attempted to contact Dvorak for an additional statement, but he was unavailable for comment.
