109 Speedways cited for illegal alcohol sales

More than 100 Speedway convenience stores in Indiana have been cited for selling alcohol on Christmas Day last year Indiana State Excise Police announced Wednesday. The number includes five stores in South Bend and several others in the area.

The investigation began at a Speedway in South Bend on December 26, 2013 following an anonymous tip.  While Excise Police were at the store investigating, an officer said she was approached by an employee from another store. The employee said their location also sold alcohol on Christmas Day.

The complete list of stores cited can be found by following this link.  Indiana law prohibits alcohol sales from 7:00am on December 25 to 3:00am on December 26.

Anyone with information on unlawful alcohol or tobacco sales should contact the appropriate State Excise Police district office at: http://www.in.gov/atc/isep/2379.htm.
