Elkhart Church offers free weddings on Valentines Day

Posted:

Trinity United Methodist Church of Elkhart is offering a unique Valentines Day deal for couples who have been putting off getting married for financial reasons.  The church is waiving regular fees for non-members who want to the get married there Feb. 14.  The church will use recorded music so the couple will not have to worry about paying a musician.  Flowers will also be provided by the church, to help ensure a nice environment, with no cost burden.

Lead Pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church of Elkhart Mark Dicken says society has made weddings into something that not everyone feels they can live up to, instead of just a marriage.  "Our culture has piled a whole lot of stuff on top of a wedding," Dicken said, "your basic Protestant wedding, even without a whole lot of music is thirty minutes on average in length, so why go through a whole lot of expense and stress over that."

The weddings will be first come, first serve.  Anyone interested must sign up by February 1st, so they can complete two required visits with a pastor of the church.  Couples must also file for a marriage license at the county clerk office.  For more information, or to secure a spot, you can contact the church at (574) 294-7602.
