Winter weather keeping auto body shops busy.

Employees at Leroy's Garage in Elkhart have been working some long days to keep up with all the work.  Owner Leroy Conley said, "we've seen several cars come in after slide off and being hit by other cars.  I had one hit by a snow plow."

Conley said this winter has been quite different from past winters.  The work load has almost doubled and the weather is preventing the delivery of some parts.  "In fact this car is still here it should be gone.  It's still here cause I'm waiting on a part that should have been here," said Conley.

Conley said in this weather it's not hard for a minor accident to cause a major headache.  "In this cold weather if you touch a bumper, a plastic bumper they just shatter."

Bumper breakage is the majority of what's keeping Leroy and his employees so busy.  "We replaced a lot of bumpers.  Front bumpers, rear bumpers, I have one coming in tomorrow that was just slightly hit in the rear and cracked the bumper all to pieces," said Conley.

So be careful on the roads because it could cost you.  Conley said, "I just had one that slid off the road and hit three mailboxes.  I think his was 28 hundred, 29 hundred just for mailboxes."
