Curtis Products reveals new building

Posted:

Curtis Products cut the ribbon on their new property Thursday, as the company prepares to move to their new location. The company purchased the former site of the Bosch Corporation from the city of South Bend.

Curtis Products is a family owned company that has been operating in South Bend for the last 55 years. It manufactures tubing to the specifications of the buyers. The company has 380 employees. The current location totals 180,000 square feet. The new location consists of buildings that will total 400,000 square feet.

"It just means another beginning for our company," said President of Curtis Products David Heckaman. "It means opportunity to grow and put all of our equipment and people under one roof."

The building is currently undergoing renovations as the company prepares to move from the previous location. It also has plans to build a shipping and receiving dock.

"Should see some very good efficiencies come out of that," Heckaman said.

South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg joined the three Heckaman brothers, who are also the owners, in the cutting of the ribbon.

Heckaman says the company plans to begin moving to the new site in June. He hopes the move is completed by August.
