What started as a simple shoplifting report turned into an abuse arrest in LaPorte.

Police say they were called out to a Walmart on the 300 block of Boyd Blvd. Sunday night after security saw a man hiding two baseball caps inside his coat and then walking out of the store.

The suspect, Ronnie Gentry, Jr., was taken into custody on a Theft charge. Police say he was also wanted for a warrant for Domestic Battery out of Porter County.
