Benton Harbor and Nappanee having problems with freezing pipes

Some Michiana communities have been experiencing issues with their water this winter, thanks to the deep freeze.

Benton Harbor and Nappanee are asking for your help.

Officials want customers to keep their water running in a very thin stream. They say it should be about the size of pencil lead.

Doing so will likely keep meters, water lines and sewer pipes from freezing.

Knox is also having problems. Some people there have been without water for more than a week.

The water department there says in some cases they have been able to use electric probes, but that just hasn't worked for everyone. The department says keep your water running if you have it, even when it warms up later this week, because the ground is frozen so deep.
