Elkhart mayor asks for help addressing snow from residents

Elkhart's mayor is asking you to help keep parts of the city clear of snow.  Mayor Dick Moore says with warmer temperature coming next week, everyone needs to do their part helping with weather related issues.

He is asking residents to remove snow around catch basins near their property to reduce the risk of flooding.  He is also reminding people that fire hydrants need to be cleared of snow.  Firefighters need 3 feet of space, including a path to the street, needs to be cleared so crews can get to the hydrant in case of emergency.

Just because it's getting warming, doesn't mean the risk of frozen water lines is gone.  If you think you might have a frozen line, you can call the Service Department at 574-264-4273 for help.
