Fatal Milford body shop fire ruled accidental

The fire at a body shop in Milford that killed two people last week has been ruled an accident.  The Kosciusko County Fire Investigation Team says the fire appears to have started because of an electrical malfunction in a ceiling light.

The Kosciusko County Coroner's Office says Annalu Nunez died of smoke inhalation. She was found in an upstairs apartment where police say she lived.  The male body found by firefighters in the first floor of the building is presumed to be Jose Medina.  Medical examiners of the Northeast Indiana Forensic Center determined the man also died of smoke inhalation.

Passerby noticed the blaze and called 911 a little after 7:15 on February 13. Five different departments responded and had the fire under control in an hour, but extreme heat made entry impossible early on.  It took several hours to put out the fire.
