Elkhart Central's robotics team competing at Purdue

Posted:

It's a competition that puts engineers and designers to the test. It's a robot battle, and Elkhart Central High School's robotics team, "ElkLogics" is part of it!

A catapult designed and built by the team will be competing in March at Purdue University. The robotics competition has teams design a robot that will launch a giant 24-inch ball through a 7 foot goal.

Elkhart Central High School's robotics team will be competing against 40 schools across the nation. The team only has 6 weeks to create the perfect a robot, and Tuesday is their last day to work on it.

Brian Boehler is a mentor for the team. He says the past 6 weeks building the robot has been an emotional roller coaster, "It has been ups and downs, failures and successes all throughout the way. And now currently we're working on trying to make sure everything is working the way it should be before we have to bag it up tomorrow at midnight."

The Elkhart Robotics creation will be sent down to Purdue for the competition Tuesday at midnight. If the team makes it in the top 24 spot down at Purdue, they move on to State Finals. The team has 35 members, each having a different role on the team, from engineers to graphic designers.
