A real estate research site says two Michiana cities are among the most exciting places in Indiana.

Mishawaka was listed at number 6 on the list from Movoto, Warsaw was number 7.

The site says it determined the rankings using a number of "fun factors," such as nightlife, restaurants, percentage of 18-34 residents, crime, and active life options. Only cities with more than 10,000 people were included on the list.

Movoto says Mishawaka had several criteria that ranked highly, the top being the number of nightlife establishments per capita. The site says Mishawaka could have done better in crime and the high number of restaurants that are fast food.

Warsaw ranked highly in the number of bars per person and the number of restaurants that were not fast food, where it was ranked 1st in the state. The site says the city could improve the number of fast food restaurants per person and crimes per 100,000 people.

The city of West Lafayette, home to Purdue University, ranked 1st on Movoto's list. Valparaiso, Crown Point, Lafayette, and Bloomington round out the top 5.

We talked to people in Mishawaka Friday about the City being in the top 10.  The Owner of Smith's Downtown, Ryan Smith, said, "six is pretty high, evidently Indiana is pretty lacking if Mishawaka hit number six"  Mishawaka resident Daniel Mattimore said he was surprised, "I guess I am, as far as exciting, not generally what I would describe Mishawaka, more terms I would use are more kinda family, where you raise your kids and live your life."

Others are surprised in a different way.  Kory Adams, a server at Bar Louie in Mishawaka said, "I'm a little surprised that we only got ranked six, I feel like we could have been ranked higher."

And even though some may have been surprised by the number six ranking at first, they're thrilled about it.  "It's something that you know puts our name out there, shows that we're not the run of the mill little town, it shows there's progress going on," said Smith.

Michiana cities on list:

6. Mishawaka

7. Warsaw

14. Goshen

16. Michigan City

30. Elkhart

41. Plymouth

51. South Bend

72. La Porte
