Michiana drivers say road conditions are terrible

Posted:

Some of the things people across Michiana are dealing with as the temperatures go up and down are terrible driving conditions, specifically pot holes and water trenches.

FOX28 took a trip around town today to find where the worst pot holes are, and one of the worst stretch of pot holes are along Meijer Drive in Mishawaka. Drivers are either going through the rough patches slowly, or completely going around them to avoid them. This has proven to cause problems for drivers in the opposite direction.

Another headache drivers are dealing with are water trenches. Sean Clem says the ride to work everyday has been getting rougher as the temperatures go up and down. He says, "Well this morning, it was trenches of water. There's a lot of spots you can't even get through out in the country. But the potholes I would say you're mainly dealing with potholes in the city."

Elkhart Mayor Dick Moore issued a release today urging motorists to be mindful of potholes. He says the Street Department crews haven't been able to do any patchwork because of the wet and freezing conditions. He says crews will be out for pot hole repair when the weather conditions get better.
