Goshen street crews busy repairing roads

The Michiana meltdown is taking a toll on local roads.

The Goshen Street Department was out trying to clear some roads of high water and do some repair work, Saturday.

The crew used 25 tons of coal patch and 42 tons of asphalt filling just on the Maple City Industrial Park roads.

Given the amount of flooding that's taken place on the streets, things like fixing potholes become even harder to do.

"As you're trying to dry the water out of the hole there's more water running from the side of the road back into the hole so you can never actually get it dry," says Goshen Street Department Commissioner, Denny Long.

Long is encouraging drivers to be extra cautious when driving on roads with water and ice as temperatures drop. He also asks that drivers be aware of the road crews working to make the roads safer and cleaner.
