Weather dictating how local pot holes are filled

The South Bend Street Department is busy filling a major issue that has popped up across the city. We're talking about all those potholes.

Crews have been tackling the main roads and routes that school buses take. Now, they're moving to the more residential areas.

Manager John Pemberton Junior says what they're doing is a quick fix, but it may not last because of the weather.

"As the temperatures keep fluctuating up and down, that's the problem we've been having," he says. "It's just a temporary fix, and until summertime - when we can get hot asphalt to go in it - it's just going to continue to keep popping out."

Pemberton hopes to get to all the problem spots by the end of the week.

If you notice a pot hole if your area that needs to be addressed, you can contact the City of South Bend by dialing 311.
