One person shot overnight in South Bend


One man is possibly paralyzed after an early morning shooting Tuesday in South Bend.

According to South Bend Police, the shooting happened around 12:15 Tuesday morning. It took place near the corner of Washington St. and Walnut St. Multiple shots were fired and the victim was hit at least three times. He appeared to be fleeing toward a residence and was found near a porch.

The victim was taken to a local hospital and remains in critical condition. Police say it is very likely he will be paralyzed from the waist down.

Police have identified a specific male suspect in the shooting and are in pursuit of him at this time.
