Double murder trial from 2012 postponed again

Posted:

The man accused of killing his brother and sister-in-law in June of 2012 won't go to trial until at least the end of September.

Steven Clippinger is charged with two counts of murder and one count of serious violent felon in possession of a firearm following the deaths of Matthew and Lisa Clippinger.  The two were killed on June 2, 2012 at a home on the 700 block of E. 11th Street in Mishawaka.

Clippinger's trial has been postponed again.  He had been scheduled to go to trial on April 14.  The trial date is now pushed back to September 15.

Prosecutors have also requested enhanced sentencing if Clippinger is convicted.  If their request is accepted, Clippinger would face a possible sentence of life without parole.

Jennifer Leveque is also charged in connection to the deaths of Matthew and Lisa Clippinger. Leveque is charged with Assisting a Criminal and Transfer of Handgun to a Felon. At a hearing earlier in the week, a judge granted a continuance for a status hearing at the request of the defense. The hearing is now scheduled for March 26.
