Airport taxi drivers await decision on new proposal

Taxi Drivers that want to drop off fairs at the South Bend Airport will have to wait another month to find out if they'll be affected by new policies.  A proposed ordinance from the airport could require all taxi companies to have a contract with the airport.

The contract would be required for cab companies to pick up and drop off passengers.  The ordinance would also include limos and other ground transportation vehicles.

Cab companies say they're not happy with the proposal.  "When we're bringing somebody in here why should we be questioned whether we have a contract to drop someone off here or not," says Arthur Forbes of Blue Ribbon Taxi.

The ordinance is now expected to voted on in the next airport board meeting which takes place March 31.
