Kelly: New team "talented" but "inexperienced"

Posted:

Coach Kelly thinks the Fighting Irish have a talented team going into the new season starting next Fall, but they are inexperienced.  Kelly spoke Friday before Spring practices start next week.

Monday at 7:30 am will be the earliest the team has ever started. The team will have 2 workouts and then take Spring Break and come back and finish off the practices leading up to the Blue Gold game.  Spring football was moved up so it would end before Easter weekend.

Kelly says they are working on consistency with QB Everett Golson.  On the quarterback situation, he also said this would be a "Huge Spring for Malik Zaire.  Huge!"  Kelly said Zaire needs to show maturity and practice like he's the starter.

FOX28 will have more from Kelly later on FOX28.com and tonight on FOX28 News at 10.
