VICTORY! FOX28's Steve DuVal wins paczki eating contest

Posted:

Steve has taken the Paczki Eating Contest title back to FOX28.  After two years of the FOX28 team losing to Rob Sparks from U93, Steve Duval came out of retirement and won the speed eating showdown.

Rob says Steve won by using his water-dipping technique, but Steve says his victory came thanks to "Macho head games."

Steve was already a paczki eating champion.  He even made a SportsCenter highlight reel after winning a paczki eating contest in 2005.  That was the last time he competed, though.

The Country Bake Shop in South Bend supplied the paczkis.  Fresh strawberry paczkis to be exact!  Craig Rumpf, owner of the bakery, says this year's eating contest was especially challenging. The paczkis were bigger this year.

The paczkis were filled with strawberry filling, topped with fresh whip cream and fresh cut strawberries, and sprinkled with powdered sugar. Rumpf says he doesn't know how many calories each paczki contains, but he guesses it's the equivalent of to two meals!
