Blood supply shortage called "uncomfortable"

The South Bend Medical Foundation is calling the blood supply shortage they are experiencing right now, "pretty uncomfortable."

They are down to a 2- to 3-day supply and need ALL blood types.   Christina Tembo, the South Bend Medical Foundation Manager of Blood Donor Recruitment, says they like to have at least a 5- or 6-day supply.  She believes the bad weather has donors putting it off and that same bad weather has accident related blood need going up.

This week, they are trying to draw donors in by giving them a box of Girl Scout cookies and a ten-dollar gift card to Best Buy or AMC Theater.  You can walk in, go to, or even call 574-257-1157 for an appointment.
