Penn Club Hockey thanks the team's parents

Posted:

The Penn Club Hockey team is heading to the state championship, but a trip to Fort Wayne for the title isn't all these boys have to be proud of.

This year, the team was one of the highest in the state when it came to their average GPA.

It's a source of pride for not only team but also their parents, and without them, the team wouldn't be where they are today. "They were already coordinating hotel rooms and working and coordinating a special shirt for them," says Coach Ryan Geist. "So to me, you can't go as far as you'd like unless you have good parent support, and we certainly have that"

"It's a big commitment," says Mandy Stanifer - a team mom. "It's a time commitment."

Penn plays Zionville for the state championship this weekend in Fort Wayne.

They've already beat them once this season, but Coach Geist says it'll be a whole different atmosphere for the title.
