More snow heading for Michiana overnight

Posted: Updated:

We're in for another blast of snow overnight, making for some potentially rough commutes Wednesday morning and more shoveling for everyone.

A strong area of low pressure will track across central Indiana from 12:00am to 5:00pm Wednesday. Michiana will stay on the north side of the track, putting us under the area of heaviest snowfall.

It will start out as rain in the early morning hours. There may be a few rumbles of thunder as well. As we get closer to the morning commute, we'll start seeing a sleet mix before it quickly switches to all snow.  That snow should hit right during many people's morning commute, sometime between 5:00am and 9:00am.

Total snow accumulation will be about 4 to 7 inches, with local amounts possibly up to 8 inches north of US-6.

It will be windy too.  Areas of blowing snow will bring on even more travel concerns tomorrow. Gusts out of the northwest could be up to 35 mph later Wednesday.  Those gusts may lead to whiteout conditions due to that blowing and drifting snow.
