Winter weather delays outdoor gardening across Michiana

On the calendar, spring is growing closer.

Nevertheless,  the weather has made it difficult to enjoy outdoor activities, especially gardening.

It doesn't mean putting that green thumb on hold.

The owner of Kruse Farm Supply says you can bring seeds indoors.

The best ones to plant now are your cold-season crops. That includes peppers, cabbage and cauliflower.

"It doesn't take a big area," says owner Steve Kruse. "You know, a four-by-four area would be more than enough that you would need to get some seeds started."

"If you're gonna do it in a room, make sure you got some big windows - southern, western exposure that get a lot of natural light," he says.

Here's what you'll need:

*A tray with openings for the seeds

*A water-proof mat to keep things from getting too messy
