UPDATE: Elkhart County Sheriff says man in neighborhood was with Comcast

The Elkhart County Sheriff's Department now says a man they believed may have been impersonating a Comcast employee really does work for the cable company.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Sheriff's Department said a man in his 60's with glasses, a black hat with "Xfinity" in red letters, and a jacket that reads "Comcast" was seen in the Amber Meadows Community off County Road 22 Tuesday morning. According to the report, the man would approach a resident's house claiming he was from Comcast and wanted to let residents know that Comcast would be in the area for the next 2-3 weeks working on maintenance and upgrades.

Initially, the Sheriff's Department says Comcast told them initially that the man was not one of their employees. Since then, Comcast has told the department the person really is a Comcast employee. Comcast says all sales representatives for them should be able to provide official identification and verification of employment information upon request.
