Niles says fallen limb caused overnight outage

The City of Niles says a fallen tree limb on a transmission line caused a power outage early Wednesday in the city.

The city says the outages started around 1:45am. The city says crews were able to isolate the damaged line and start restoring power to customers. More than 1000 came back on at 3:36am, another 440 by 4:55am, and the remaining 2924 around 5:09am.

The city says outages like this are rare. In 2013, the city reported an electric reliability factor of 99.97%.
