Morning snow makes for tough commute

Posted:

Slide-offs, accidents, road closures, driving around Wednesday morning was absolutely brutal.

The snow came fast and furious and it wreaked havoc on Michiana.  Drivers we spoke to say it was tough getting around, "The roads and the trees, because of the weight of the snow, are absolutely brutal," said Patrick Mulligan who had to drive around South Bend.

It was also brutal for police and other officials who had to help helpless drivers. In Elkhart County alone there were 25 accidents and over 30 cars that ended up in the ditch.

There were long delays everywhere, making many people even more annoyed.  Jill Hobgood of Mishawaka said, "My drive is usually about 20 minutes, I would say, but this morning it was about an hour."

Some drivers still tried looking for a positive, "It's agonizing right now but the good news is the Irish are going to play their spring game in April and we look forward to that and maybe greener pastures ahead," Mulligan said.
