Students celebrate Dr Seuss in South Bend

Wilson Primary Center celebrated Dr. Seuss Day, Thursday, by inviting special members of the community to come read to students. Dr. Seuss Day is officially on the author's birthday, which is March 2.  Because the date fell on a Sunday and ISTEP testing has been going on, the school moved their celebration to March 13.

People such as police, fire, doctors, and school board members all took turns throughout the day reading their favorite Seuss classics.  This is the eighth year that the school celebrated the famous children's author.

Wilson Primary Center Family and Community School Specialist (FACSS), Maliani Correa says the kids look forward to Dr. Seuss Day every year.  "They get to dress up," Correa said, "they get to show which ones are their favorite characters from Dr. Seuss books."

The students had a parade through the school to show off their different Seuss costumes and decorations that are up in the building.
