Police respond to shooting in Elkhart

Police have identified the victim in Thursday night's shooting at a Marathon gas station in Elkhart.  The Elkhart Police Department says while investigating reports of gunfire around 9:00pm, 25-year-old Tyrone Morris was found with "an injury consistent with a gunshot."

Dispatch told FOX28 News Morris was found on the 100 block of Cleveland Avenue.  He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Mobeen Khan is the brother of the gas station owner. He says they heard two gunshots and saw vehicles speed away. By the time they came out of the building, he told us police were already on the scene.  "We didn't come outside for our safety," Khan said. "It was pretty scary."

Police are continuing to investigate the shooting.  Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Det. Conway at 574-295-7076.
