Irish women set for NCAA tourney

Notre Dame coach Muffet McGraw was hoping to get a little luck for her Fighting Irish on selection Monday which happened to fall on St. Patrick's day this year.

ND had been linked to potential first round sites of Iowa, Baton Rogue, and Toledo, before the 2014 NCAA bracket was released. However, McGraw was not afraid to hide her feelings that she wanted to play just two and a half hours from campus in Toledo.

Sure enough, the selection committee must have received her message. The Irish, a one seed, will start their journey to a potential fourth straight Final Four with a Saturday 1:30PM game against Robert Morris in Toledo.

"I have tremendous confidence in [my team]. I know when we play our "A" game we are really, really hard to beat. It's fun to watch us. We have so many strengths and not very many weaknesses. Its our job to keep them focused and keep working on those weaknesses," said McGraw. "It's a six game season right now, and everybody's undefeated."

If Notre Dame can get through their first two games with no issues, that will put them in the Sweet 16 right at home in Purcell Pavilion. For right now the team is just excited to get the tournament started.

"Especially being my senior year, with my fellow two seniors this is do or die for us," said senior forward Natalie Achonwa.

The Notre Dame game against Robert Morris will be televised on ESPN for fans who cannot make the trip to Ohio.
