UPDATE: Victims identified in Tuesday's shooting in South Bend

Posted:

Metro Homicide has identified the two victims in Tuesday night's shooting in South Bend.  They say 19-year-old Cornell Taylor was taken to an area hospital where he later died.  The other victim, 20-year-old Brilan Williams, was treated and released.

Police responded to the 1800 block of North Fremont Street around 7pm.  This is at the corner of Marquette Street near LaSalle Landing Apartments.

They are still trying to determine exactly what happened. Officers say they're in the process of interviewing numerous people. There are no suspects at this time.

Metro Homicide says there was a large gathering of people at the scene before the shooting when a fight broke out followed by gunfire.  FOX28's crew at the scene described broken glass being in the street, and a portion of Fremont Park was blocked off with crime scene tape last night.

We'll continue to follow this story and bring you more information as it becomes available.  Anyone
with information on this case is asked to call Metro Homicide at 574-235-5009 or Crime Stoppers at 574-288-STOP.
