Blue Star Mothers put together care packages for wounded soldiers

Many soldiers have been hurt while serving overseas.

The St. Joe Valley Blue Star Mothers have made it their mission to help them.

Saturday, they were preparing for their trip to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to give the injured soldiers some care packages. The goodie bags are sewn and donated by Busy Hands of Michiana. They're filled with things like personal hygiene items, healthy snacks, and puzzle books.

"They don't feel that they're deserving or they don't feel like a hero but they really are. This is just a small token of appreciation for what they've done and what they've given and what they've sacrificed; them and their families," says Sandra Boldt with St. Joseph Valley Blue Star Mothers.

Boldt will leave for Maryland on April 2nd and says donations will be taken all the way up to that day. It's the group's third trip to the hospital. Click here to find out how you can help.
