Arrests in nearly three-year-old Noble County murder case

Posted:

Three years after a woman's body was pulled from a lake in Noble County, two brothers are behind bars in connection with her death.

Thirty-five-year-old Andres Gonzalez is charged with the July 2011 murder of Erin Justin.

Thirty-two-year-old Victor Gonzalez faces charges of assisting a criminal and removing a body from the scene of a death.

Court documents say Victor Gonzalez' wife, phoned in the tip, nearly 32 months after the crime.

The two men then allegedly confessed their involvement.

Police say the victim's family is somewhat relieved by the new developments.

"Her father was in the legal profession," said Noble County Detective Shawn Dunafin. "So, I think he is just kind of aware sometimes these cases just go cold, and there is no resolution. But he was definitely glad to hear that we've taken a step towards resolution for them."

Police are still investigating, but court documents say the brothers stuffed Erin Justin's body into the trunk of the car before weighing her body down with a cinder block and dumping it in Bartley Lake.
