Boy Scouts hold fundraiser for fellow member

The members of Boy Scout Troop 747 held a fundraiser on Sunday afternoon to help out a fellow member. Zachary Talley is a member of Troop 747 who is in a wheelchair.

His fellow Boy Scouts decided to hold a spaghetti dinner to raise money to help Talley and his family with expenses. The money raised will go towards buying a vehicle with a wheel chair lift, renovations to his home to hold his medical equipment, build a handicap accessible bathroom and pay off the remaining balance on his new motorized wheelchair.

Senior Patrol Leader of Troop 747, Corben Shrock says he has known Zach for more than five years. "We feel good about that knowing that there's people that still care about Zach and scouting," he says.

The dinner was held at the Elkhart Moose Lodge. Brian Klaer of Moose Lodge provided the space and the food for the fundraiser at no cost. Others who helped put on the event were Troop 711, Troop 776, Troop 84, Troop 117 and Pack 734.

The Osolo Fire Department brought some firefighter action figures for Zach. They are leading the bathroom project at Zach's home. There was a silent auction, balloon artist and food served to the hundreds who made their way to the fundraiser throughout the afternoon.
