Suspect found intoxicated inside South Bend business after break-in

Posted:

Police made an unusual discovery at a South Bend massage parlor Sunday morning.  At 9:30am, South Bend police officers responding to calls of a break-in at Therapeutic Indulgence on the 900 block of East Jefferson St. say they found 19-year-old Brian McCurren, from Maineville, Ohio, passed out on the second floor of the business.

South Bend police report the door of the building was kicked in with its window broken. That got him into an enclosed porch on the property where there was a glass door leading into the business.  Instead of breaking the glass door, police believe McCurren burrowed a hole through the drywall adjacent to the door.

After the break-in, police report that a fire extinguisher was discharged inside the business, resulting in a dry chemical mess throughout. McCurren then allegedly went to a breakroom on the second floor, took out a frozen meal and placed it in a toaster oven. He apparently passed out shortly afterward, as police found the oven still on and the meal placed inside was burned beyond recognition.

Police report McCurren was visibly intoxicated upon being found and could not remember how he arrived at the location nor what he was doing there. He was arrested for burglary, malicious mischief, and underage consumption. After being brought to the police station, he reportedly blew a .106 BAC.

There is no estimate of the damage to the business at this time, but it is believed to be substantial.
