ND makes 4th straight Final Four

Notre Dame seniors Kayla McBride, Natalie Achonwa and Ariel Braker have known nothing but winning in their four years on campus.

For the fourth consecutive time in their career, the ND senior trio is headed to the NCAA Women's Basketball Final Four.

"This senior class came in unheralded and set all kind of records. To win [the regional championship] at home, to celebrate with our fans is special," said Notre Dame head coach Muffet McGraw.

In order to reach the Final Four, the undefeated Irish defeated Baylor, the last team to beat ND on their home floor, 88-69. The Irish (35-0) were led in scoring by sophomore guard Jewell Loyd, who poured in 30 points.

Achonwa had a solid outing in her final game in Purcell Pavilion, scoring 19 points and adding 11 rebounds. However, near the end of the second half she went down with a knee injury. As she limped off the court she screamed at her teammates to win the game. She will undergo a MRI Tuesday.

Notre Dame plans to leave South Bend Thursday at some point to make the journey down to Nashville, where the Final Four is being played this year. Their first match-up in the semi-final will be played Sunday night.
