UPDATE: Woman killed in suspected drunk driving accident identified

A young woman is dead after a single car accident early Tuesday morning in Berrien Township.  The Berrien County Sheriff's Department says a Ford Pick-up was heading north on Pucker St. when the driver lost control and hit a tree.

The passenger in the truck, 19-year-old Carley Hartman, was killed in the crash.  Police say the driver of the vehicle, a 20-year-old man, was found "wandering around the area with visible injuries."  The driver was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Deputies arrested the driver on a preliminary charge of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of intoxicants causing death.  Police have not yet released the identity of the driver.  They say his identity will be released if formal charges are filed by the Berrien County Prosecutor's Office.
