Statements from local officials following Fort Hood shooting

Governor Mike Pence:

"As we come together to acknowledge the good work all of you are doing in supporting our veterans and National Guard members, we are burdened by the tragedy that took place yesterday at Fort Hood in Texas.  Hoosiers across our state mourn the loss of life and injury at Fort Hood and stand with grateful hearts with those who serve at home and abroad."

Senator Dan Coats:

Terrible tragedy tonight at Fort Hood. Prayers for those injured and those who lost a loved one

Senator Joe Donnelly

"All of us in Indiana are praying for those who were injured and those who lost their lives in the shooting at Fort Hood. They will remain in our thoughts and prayers."

Congresswoman Jackie Walorski:

"My heartfelt sympathies and condolences go out to the victims and families of Fort Hood.  No community should have to endure this heartbreak, and twice is appalling. As a member of the Veterans Affairs and House Armed Services Committees, I've spent the past 15 months advocating on behalf of our brave men and women who serve our country to ensure they receive the care they deserve.  We must work to shatter the stigma of PTSD and encourage those who need it most to seek the help of mental health services.  I will continue to work on this critical issue with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to find commonsense solutions to provide the best care possible to our veterans."
