Notre Dame women's basketball team begins Final Four trip to Nashville

The Notre Dame women's basketball team has been the buzz on campus after the team beat Baylor to make their fourth consecutive Final Four appearance in the NCAA Tournament. On Thursday evening, the team boarded a bus as they began the trip to Nashville, Tennessee.

Most of the people on hand were members of the media or Notre Dame employees, but Karen Berebitsky was one of the Fighting Irish fans who was at Purcell Pavilion to see them off. "There's nothing like being a Notre women's basketball fan," she said as she showed off her green painted finger nails.

Berebitsky will be making the trip to Nashville to watch her Fighting Irish in person.  "This will be my fourth in a row with all those kids that are seniors," she said. She has made the trip to the four recent Final Four appearances in Indianapolis, Denver and New Orleans.

The team made their way from the locker room towards the bus and dropped off their luggage. One of the heavier bags might belong to Head Coach Muffet McGraw. She plans on being in Nashville for more than just Sunday evening's game. "I've got a big bag. I could barely fit everything in it," McGraw said.

That could be the very same issue some of the Fighting Irish fans that will make their trip down Nashville. Players say they are grateful for the support of the Fighting Irish faithful. "The fans have been so faithful to us all season so for all of them to be traveling to Nashville will be really cool to see everybody there," freshman forward Taya Reimer said.

Tip off is set for 6:30pm on Sunday at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. The winner of the Notre Dame-Maryland game will play the winner of the Connecticut-Stanford game for the National Championship on April 8th.

Berebitsky had a message for the team as their buses took off. "Good luck. Go Irish and bring home the National Championship," she said.
