Proposed Elkhart County baseball team won't play this year

Posted:

There will be no Miracle in Elkhart County this year.  Craig Wallin, owner of the proposed Elkhart County Miracle baseball team confirmed that plans to launch this season have been postponed. The Miracle was to be the first team of the newly created Northern League this year.

Wallin hosted a groundbreaking event at the old site of the American Countryside Farmers Market off County Road 26 last summer, but said he has yet to close the sale on the property at this time.

He stated that the team still plans to begin construction on a stadium this coming summer.  The stadium is planned to offer 625 seats, but Wallin says its design is expandable to up to 4,000.  It is also planned to include four suites.  Organizers hope to offer a family friendly and economical entertainment venue in Elkhart County.  Tickets are expected to be under $10.

This is the second attempt to get a baseball stadium built in Elkhart County in the last few years.  In February of 2010, the County approved construction of a 2,500 seat stadium, but it was never built.
