Woman arrested for aggravated battery after early morning stabbing in South Bend

A South Bend woman has been arrested after police say she stabbed a man in an argument early Tuesday morning.

South Bend Police arrested 42-year-old Regina Williams after responding to a call about a dispute on the 1500 block of South Miami St. After speaking to a witness, police say Williams was in an argument with a 51-year-old man at around 2:30 am.

According to police, the man picked up a broom during the argument to use as a weapon and Williams responded by picking up a knife. Police say Williams then stabbed the man near the shoulder blade.

Police say his injuries were not life-threatening and he refused medical treatment. Williams complained to police she was struck by the broom, but police say she was uncooperative after being taken to the hospital and was transported to jail on charges of aggravated battery.
