Police remind moped owners to register their vehicle

Last year, the South Bend Common Council passed an ordinance that requires mopeds to be registered if they're driven in city limits.

Now that the weather is warming up, the police department wants to remind moped owners to get their mopeds registered.

You have to register at the police station at 701 W. Sample Street in South Bend.  The initial yearly fee is $20. A yearly renewal is $15.

The Police Department says the registration makes it easier to track down stolen mopeds.
