Fans show support for Lady Irish

Posted:

Even though they weren't able to close the deal, the Lady Irish have a lot to be proud of. It was a magical season that included 37 straight victories.

Notre Dame fans won't soon forget the ride the team took them on.  Dozens of Irish fans showed up for the teams return to Notre Dame on Wednesday.

Head Coach Muffet McGraw says the fan's support helps after a tough loss.  "It makes you feel so good knowing that our fans are behind us no matter what.  It was a great season; disappointing at the end, but I think we have to remember all the good stuff," says McGraw.

Star player Kayla McBride says even with the tough loss to UConn, this team has still overachieved.

"I'm just really proud of this team, I think we've been through a lot of adversity this year, a lot of people counted us out, we weren't suppose to win the ACC and we did, we just came up so far that I look at our bench and seeing those people grow in confidence that's the most special part for me as a senior leader just seeing how people have grown this year," says McBride.

Another fan of the women's team head football coach Brian Kelly also expressed his support Wednesday.

"They've done it consistently playing in the final four, four consecutive years.  That consistency is what all of our programs here at Notre Dame, in particular football want to aspire to," says Kelly.
