The Shirt 2014 unveiled celebrating 25th anniversary

Notre Dame football fans were given a little taste of spring football on Friday evening. The Hammes Notre Dame Bookstore was the sight for the unveiling of The Shirt 2014.  Hundreds gathered on the Notre Dame campus as they waited for the 2014 shirt to be shown.  Head Coach Brian Kelly was on hand to show off this year's shirt.            

This was the 25th year The Shirt has been unveiled, but the 26th shirt overall. There were two shirts sold in 1990. This year's shirt is a bit different from others in the past. The shirt is not one hundred percent cotton but instead a combination of cotton and polyester.  The Shirt Project Executive Committee believes the 2014 product represents Notre Dame as best it can. 

Lesley Stevenson Shirt Project Executive Committee says, "We don't have players featured, we have a different color. We're really excited," sophomore student and Shirt Project Executive Committee Member Lesley Stevenson said. "We think this shirt represents the best of tradition on Notre Dame football as well as this new era we're hoping to go into with Coach Brian Kelly." 

The Shirt is the highest selling item of collegiate apparel in the nation.  Proceeds from sales help a the Reactor Fund and The Shirt Charity Fund, extracurricular activities and student organizations. Fans were able to purchase the shirt at the bookstore immediately after the unveiling ceremony was done.
