ST. JOSEPH COUNTY -

UPDATE: David Sallows Summerfield's, the man charged with theft and voyeurism back in April, trial date is set for October 13th. Summerfield will also have a status hearing set for August 25th.

PREVIOUS:  Law enforcement officials say 73-year-old David Summerfield of Niles, MI was arrested and booked in the St. Joseph County Jail on one count of misdemeanor Voyeurism. By Tuesday night, the jail said he'd bonded out. SVU continues to investigate the case.

4/15/2014 -- An employee with Saint Mary's College is behind bars after the school says he admitted to secretly watching students in the restroom.  Gwen O'Brien with the college says another employee told campus officials that a co-worker had been observing students in a Le Mans Hall restroom. When confronted by the college, officials say Summerfield admitted to watching the students.

"I've never thought to worry about anything," says Maria Noel, who is a Notre Dame Freshman living on campus. She knows other women who go to Saint Mary's, so this news hits close to home. "That's scary because you know, you think of an employee, you trust them. And an older gentleman, you want to trust them like a grandfather figure," she says.

Summerfield was arrested Tuesday morning on a preliminary charge of voyeurism following an investigation from the St. Joseph County Special Victims Unit.  Saint Mary's says Summerfield has been fired.

"The safety, privacy, and security of our students are our primary concerns. This type of behavior is repugnant and Saint Mary's College will not tolerate it," said College President Carol Ann Mooney.

The school is offering counseling support through Women's Health and campus Ministry if needed.
