Notre Dame "Tip-Off for Heart" promotes cardiovascular health

Notre Dame's second annual "Tip-Off for Heart" event is happening today. The American Heart Association is once again teaming up with University of Notre Dame men's basketball Head Coach Mike Brey. It's happening today at Purcell Pavilion at the Joyce Center.

The event's goal is to raise awareness surrounding men's heart health and it is part of the local "Men of Heart" initiative. Heart disease is the number one killer in the United States with more than 2,500 heart attacks a day.

Local companies in the Michiana area will be teaming up in groups of five to take part in the event's experience. The event has a little bit of everything; fantasy camp, wellness education, and team building. Participants will also walk away with some free goodies like; an Adidas sack-pack and an Adidas jersey with the "Tip-Off for Heart" logo.

The event is open to men 21 years and older only. A $2,5000 sponsor is required for each team of five. Money raised will help finance research, education, and legislative advocacy programs in Michiana.

If you are participating in the event, there's some things you'll want to bring with you. That includes your tennis shoes, athletic wear, and your willingness to be active on the court.

Tip-Off for heart will kick off at 3:30pm and run until 8:30pm.
