Public asked for ideas on Lincolnway West and Western Avenue corridors

What to do with the Lincolnway West and Western Avenue Corridors in South Bend was the focus of two events Wednesday night, where the city, along with the Urban Enterprise Association, were looking to get ideas from the people who live in South Bend.

Citizens say they want more lights, more businesses ,and curbs and sidewalks in the areas to give people coming into the city a good impression.  City leaders say they're impressed with the turnout from the community, and they're very committed to move from talk to action.

Karen White is the president of the Urban Enterprise Association. She says, "For years, these two corridors have not been addressed at the level that we believe is important for not only the citizens and businesses, but also for the city at large."

It's not too late to give your input.  There will be an event Saturday at the Century Center to look at all the ideas the city has gotten and start planning.  Residents can also call 574-696-0315 to complete a 3 minute, 11 question survey that will gather input.  You can also visit the initiative's website here.
