Downtown South Bend's First Friday always has a fun theme.  May was no different, featuring the slogan "Vintage Downtown."  Organizers say they want to highlight all the rich history of the area.

There were a number of "vintage" events, including vintage Studebaker cars on the gridiron and free trolley rides from TRANSPO.

The biggest event of the night was at the State Theater.  Organizers attempted to recreate the historic 1940 photo from the world premiere of Knute Rockne: All American.  The movie premiered at what is now the Morris Performing Arts Center, bringing an estimated 200,000 people to South Bend.

Several hundred people took part in the recreation, some holding letters to spell out a Twitter hashtag, #WEARESOUTHBEND

Once they were finished with the picture, those who took part got free tickets to see a showing of the movie at the State. The Center for History and Notre Dame also brought in memorabilia associated with the movie and the famous Notre Dame coach.
