Mishawaka's Rohrer back on track

Just weeks after finishing rehab for her two broken feet, Mishawaka's Anna Rohrer found herself feeling back on track.

In the 3200 meter race at the Princess City Relays Track Meet, Rohrer finished 16 seconds ahead of anyone else with her impressive time of 10:37. LaPorte's Elena Lancioni finished second with a time of 10:53 and Madie Woods was the third runner across the finish line, posting a 10:57 for Penn.

It was a rare scene for three girls to finish with sub 11 minute times, because usually those kind of numbers are only seen at the state championships.

"Its really reassuring because I didn't know where I would be at this point. I'm really pleased to be where I am and I have a new feeling when I race," said Rohrer. "Before it was kind of like, maybe I don't feel up to it that day, but now I was just so excited all week because the feeling that I can get out there and give it my all again is just really motivating I guess."

For Rohrer, the first place finish was nice, especially considering the competition, but coming out of a race feeling great was even more of a win for the track star.

"Just to finish a race, and walk around and not be in pain, it's just such a blessing," said Rohrer.

Staying healthy the rest of the track season will be the key for Rohrer because she already saw her cross country season end this year due to injury.

With just over a month left until the state finals in Bloomington, Rohrer will continue to find her stride, and hopes her teammates can do the same.

"We have some girls who can qualify for state and I think just working together as a team to stay healthy it will be really neat to see what we can do as a team," said Rohrer.

Rohrer won the state title in the 3200 race last season with a time of 10:20.68, which was just .02 seconds shy of tying the state record.
