Benefit supports family of murdered toddler

It's been almost a month since a toddler was shot and killed while playing outside a South Bend home.

Police say 2-year-old John Swoveland Junior was the victim of gang violence, hit by a stray bullet.

Saturday evening, the community came together to support the family. There was a fundraiser held at Chippewa bowl in South Bend to help with the family's expenses.
"When you know you've got this kind of support behind you, it just makes it a lot easier than thinking nobody's out there helping you," says Little John's grandfather, John Swoveland.

If you couldn't make it to the fundraiser, but would like to help, you can make a donation at any First Source Bank.
